  • Limb extension and trunk convexity on the side of the head rotation
  • Asymetric sitting which promotes scoliotic posture
  • Excessive asymetric weightbearing with risk of pressure sore over one ishium or hip

Symetric Tonic Neck Reflex

  • LE extension with UE flexion when head flexes
  • LE Flexion with UE extension when head extends
  • Forward sliding in chair (Shear risk)
  • Sacral sitting with risk of sacral or coccyx pressure sore

Reclining the backrest may result in:-

  • Extension of trunk and extremities
  • Forward sliding in chair

Moro's Reflex And Startle Reflex

Sudden head extension or loud noise can result in

  • Alternating extension-flexion extremity movements
  • Forward sliding
Negative Support Reaction

Negative Support Reaction

may tend to withdraw their LEs into flexion when the feet are in contact with the foot rigging. In addition hyperflexionat the hips may pull hamstringsresulting in posterior tilt, with sacral sitting.
Consequences may be:-

  • Strong flexions of LEs
  • Posterior pelvic tilt
  • Sliding and sacral sitting
  • Feet may not remain on plates
